What IS covered if a pet is sick or injured? All diagnostic tests, surgeries, and medications (including hereditary and congenital disorders). Conditions that are within a primary diagnostic code listed on VPI's "Benefit Schedule".
What is NOT covered if a pet is sick or injured?

  2. Hip dysplasia - optional coverage for dogs and cats enrolled before 1st birthday

  • Six Musculoskeletal disorders including:
    • Hip dysplasia

  • Eleven ocular disorders
  • Two endocrine disorders
  • ACL damage in the 1st 12 months.
  • Collapsed trachea

What are the policy payout limits? Currently $20,000, with no limits per year, claim, illness, procedure, or condition. Each condition is eligible for payment under only one primary diagnostic code found in the "Benefit Schedule" and any applicable secondary diagnostic code, per incident. Repeat claims are subject to annual limits per primary diagnostic code.

Example 2 Benefit Schedule Superior Plan: Foreign Body-Surgical (code 1205)

  • Diagnostic Testing Allowance $236
  • Allowance for treatment, surgery, exam, injections and hospitalization is $1200
  • Allowance for anesthesia $125

Specialized diagnostic tests have individual limits with a per incident limit of $1000. Chemotherapy/radiation maximum of $1200.
What are the deductible options? You can choose to have no deductible or choose between $50 and $1000. $50 per incident
What amount will the policy cover? 90% of actual veterinary bill for costs arising from injury or illness, less the veterinary exam fee and deductible, if selected. 90% of the lesser of actual veterinary charges or VPI's "Benefit Schedule" after the per incident deductible is met.
